Situated alongside our abattoir, our meat and poultry processing plants are equipped to de-bone and process up to 100 tons of product per shift. The plant produces a full range of beef, lamb and chicken cuts for sale to major supermarket chains, caterers, hotels, restaurants, butchers and other retail outlets.

All meat and poultry products are packed on site, either by vacuum or in food grade wrappers per customer specification. The product is then tagged with a printed label indicating the date of manufacture and use-by date, ensuring that the product reaches the consumer in a fresh state. Before final dispatch from the de-boning plant, all products are stored at 0 Centigrade or less, having been metal detected to ensure quality and safety.

Keeping in line with our emphasis on quality, the plant was upgraded during the last quarter of 2006. The upgrade consisted of totally replacing the floors, walls, ceilings, and ventilation to an international standard. New cold storage facilities and loading bays were also added to allow the meat processing plant and poultry processing plant to work independently of each other, as well as independently of the abattoir.

The processing plants currently produce a number of value added products, which include hamburger patties, kebabs, cubes, minced meat and chicken wings. These products are sold to customers in a variety of pack sizes and to the retail market under the Quality Meat Packers brand.

With the success of our current value added products in the market, Quality Meat Packers has embarked on an ambitious plan to expand the meat processing plant to increase production capacity by 20 tons per shift. The upgrade will allow the company to produce a wider range of branded value added products including sausages, hotdogs, mortadellas, sandwich meats, and tenders. Machinery for the upgrade have been sourced from leading suppliers in Germany and France and upon installation the plant will be the most advanced of its kind in Eastern Africa. As our customers have come to expect, all products made at the upgraded facility will adhere to the standards of quality and care that our company is renowned for.
